February - The Love Month

It’s February already! There’s something about the month of February that I like. I’m not sure what it is, if it’s the fact that in the next few days I’ll have another grandson to wrestle with or if it’s February 14th – Valentine’s Day!

I’m most certain that February, the birth month of grandson number two will always be special; after all we’ll be celebrating a new life. And what’s not to love about Valentine’s Day? (Wouldn’t it be cool if baby Asher were born on February 14th?) I know there are people out there who think Valentine’s Day is just another Hallmark holiday but I kind of like the idea of a day set aside to honor ‘love’. After all, the Bible has a lot to say about love:

“…love your neighbor as yourself.” Lev. 19:18; James 4:7

“A friend loves at all times.” Prov,. 17:17

“…there’s a time to love…” Eccles:3:8

“…love your enemies.” Matt. 5:44; Luke 6:27

“...let us love another.” I John 4:7

“…love the Lord your God with all of your heart…” Deut. 6:5

I could go on and on. The important thing to remember this Valentine’s Day, and any day for that matter, is that God is love and that love is from God. Therefore in love we should serve one another. Happy Valentine’s Day my friends and God bless the little men in my life! (Jeremiah and his brother-to-be, Asher.) February 2012 is definitely worth celebrating!
